Hello. I 42 years old and in good health. Prior to fracturing my fifth metatarsal, I walked for one hour three times a week, rode my bike and swam frequently. The fracture was described as an undisplaced fracture through the base of the 5th metatarsal. I have had my foot in plaster for three weeks. The follow up x-ray reported "mild demineralisation at the base of the 5th metatarsal; alignment of the undisplaced transverse fracture is unchanged; and no significant callus noted at this stage". The doctor told me to stay on crutches for three more weeks and the physio has given me a removable fibreglass cast. I am concerned to use this as I thought I should not be weight bearing. The physio said the cast provides enough support. If I walk with this cast, I can feel pressure in the area of the broken bone. Could you please give me your opinion? Thank you Libya
