Help!! after 30 years of pain I finally had a bunionectomy done 2 mos ago on my left foot. After a few days I devoloped a bacterial infection in a large hematoma in the middle part of my foot under the toes . I was put on intravenous antibiotics for several days which cleared the bacterial infection but am still dealing with the hematoma. I still can't stand for more than a few minutes before my entire foot swells painfully and turns dark purple. My HMO doctor says he has never seen this before or how long it will last or what is causing it.I am on 1000mg of naprosyn and wearing support hose. I am pretty much housebound and sleep only a few hours a day because of pain and discomfort. I am trying to stay optimistic but am worried that i may need more surgery. What caused this to happen? and what are my options? i would appreciate any insight-thank you
