knee pain

Hello,
Lately I've been having knee pain. It started out as a feeling that I had a tight piece of elastic over my kneecap upon bending. I'm 54 & now the pain is mostly on the inside of my kneecap as I bend it or get up after sitting for a time. I am flat-footed. Could this be pulling on the inside of my knee? Any advice is appreaciated.
