Re: ankle arthroscopy/external fixator

You are certainly on the extreme end of ankle problems. An ankle fusion would be a strong possibility. If you are ot sure or do not understand the post op follow up, you should write down your questions and ask away.
I offer patients a brace when a fusion is not an option. An example is a fixed Richie type ankle brace. This would lock the ankle so no motion occurs. If one finds wearing a brace objectionable, then so be it and proceed with surgery.
