Toe pain


I have a large bone growth on my right big toe that is now casing pain up into my foot and lower leg.I had an x-ray and they Rx'd pain meds and a cream made of peppers to reduce the pain.It has not work'd and I am now going to the foot Dr.Can this bone be removed and if so what is the recover time...I am in hopes a cast is not in my future.
