heat and foot pain

Hi
I am an occupational health dr
Work at an aluminium smelter
Workers are exposed to temp > 40 deg C
There are complaints about painful feet after a shift
They wear safety boots and thick woollen socks
No diabetes , smoking or other medical condition could be found
The skin of the feet are peeling
Good perferal circulation
Do you know if heat exposure can give painful feet
