Without examining your foot I can not say. Anterior tibial tendonitis can have many causes. One that I have seen several times is due to poor quality of shoes. They are either worn out or not enough shock absorption for the activity.
Poor mechanics of the foot function can also result in the overuse of the tendon.
Have you seen a podiatrist?
