It is very possible that the heat is a factor causing the problem. Perspiration, friction and swelling are all likely to occur in this situation.

There isn't any safety shoe I am aware of that can cool the foot adequately though. Someone needs to invent a sock or boot or insert that acts like a refrigerator.
