calf pain with cast/Jones fracture

I broke my 5th metatarsel (Jones fracture) 4 weeks ago and have been in a cast with crutches this entire time. Things are going well, considering. My question is that when I get up from either lying down or sitting with my leg elevated I get an intense pain in my calf. Is this due to the change in blood flow? Is this due to the calf muscle atrophy? The pain is not present when I am lying down or when my leg is elevated. What are your thoughts?
