This subject has many viewpoints. There is no one right and one wrong procedure. You really need to discuss this with your doctor who would do this. Most surgeons are going to do the procedure that works best in their hands. Surgery is an art as well as a science.

It might be awkward for a patient to tell a doctor what procedure they want if the doctor does not agree.

You should have all your questions answered and go from there.
