5th metatarsal fracture

I fractured my 5th metatarsal 5 wks ago pretty badly (displaced) and have been on an aircats and crutches ever since. When does bone healing begin and if anyone else has done this, how long before I can walk w/o the crutches and just the aircast? I have to fly to California for a wedding - is it ok to fly 5 hours? Are there any vitamins, etc. I can take to aid bone growth?
