Bumpy toenails

I have toenails that have "stress marks" on them. They are white streaks that go horizontally on the nail. It looks like the nail is bent in many place. i have NEVER experienced any pain with them. I am an avid runner could this be part of the problem? I have had them since I can remember and i was wondering if there is any way to cure them? Thanks for your time.
