You are likely correct in guessing that running is the cause of your bumpy toenails. Any trauma to the nail can cause growth disturbances. As far as a cure, even if you were to stop running, if the root of the nail has been permanently affected the nail will still grow abnormally. So long story short- it is imposssible to tell for sure.
