I have been having some pain on the top of my right foot for about two weeks. I am a veteran runner of twenty-one years and am in the latter stages of training for a marathon. The pain seems to start along the top ridge of the foot just below the top of the shoelaces and radiate downward toward the toes, although my toes seem unaffected. I am flat footed and wear orthotic supports in both casual and running shoes. I suspect that this happened when I had my shoes laced up too tight in the latter stages of an eighteen-mile run two weeks ago. This thing has me sidelined, and I have already bought a vacation package and paid for an expensive registration. Any help in figuring out what this is and what to do about it would be much appreciated.
