bone sticking out of the top of my foot.

there is an abnormal bone sticking up where I've twice broken the foot bone in the same area. I cant understand why this is the way it is. What are the reasons that a bone would be like this. Is it simply because it healed wrong? Or something else altogether. Thank you , Manuel Ramirez
