absorbable pins

My wife has had multiple bunionectomies and foot surgeries. CT and Mri state edema in the Great toe, while others state there is none. She has had excruciating pain in her feet, and nobody is able to give us definitive answers. My question is, could the absorbable pins be the cause? Has anyone had issue with these pins?
