Having said that, There are several possibilities, but without examining you I can not make any recommendations. I will therefore generalize. RSD (also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) is very unnerving to both patient and doctor. The initial findings are usually pain beyond the expected norm. There may be a temperature change compared to the other extremity. I recommend a neurologist for a definitive diagnosis and treatment recommendations. In the interim, ask your doctor about getting a TENS or SPORTX from Rehabilicare is a possibility. I think Worker's Comp usually covers these. This can help with your pain a great deal. I use these on my patients especially after surgery and it cuts down greatly on the amount of pain medication for many of them. There are always going to be patients who these don't work as well on, but it might be worth a try. Good luck.
