I broke my calcaneus just over 1 year ago. I broke it in 4 four places. Doctor put in 9 screws and 3 plates. Badly damaged the cartlage and told to expect arthritis soon. 1 year later, bone healed very well and I walk with a bit of a limp. I still get tremendous pain when my foot turns side to side. I still get pain from just doing daily activities. I bought those GEL inserts for my shoes hoping to take some of the pain away. Not much. Doctor said maybe to think about fusing. I looked at getting a custom brace made ($1000!!), but the doctor said because of the type of brake in heel, a brace probably will not do anything for pain. Should I look at fusing, or is there anything else I can do to get pain relief in my heel.
