I have been suffering from chronic foot pain for the past 6 months. I can't walk without being in constant pain. The pain is in the side of my foot by my 5th metatarsal and on top of my foot by my toes. My foot is swollen and doesn't look right. I have been to a couple of podiatrist and have been misdiagnosed. The first podiatrist said I had a foot contusion and gave me a cam walker. I wore the cam walker for 3 months, which did not help me at all. Still in constant pain. The second podiatrist said I had an occult fracture of my 5th metatarsal and put me in a hard cast for 6 weeks. I am still in pain and having the same problem. I had an MRI done after my cast was removed, and now I am told that I have mild inflammation of my 5th metatarsal area. The pain is chronic and it is not mild to me. The inflammation will not go away. What causes inflammation, and why won't it go away?
