It depends on how bad the tear is, your helath, weight, activity, compliance, etc.

In some patients, surgery is indicated, in a non-surgical candidate, I have had success using a Richie type brace.

A silicone insert on the back of the Achillotrain leaves tendon pressure-free and provides intermittent compression for the reduction of swelling and edema.
